I figure everyone could benefit in some way from the email I sent our Texas City Boot Camp members today, so I’ve posted it below by request.

******************

Sometimes the world can seem gloomy.

Sometimes the world is glorious.

And when you’re in the ‘thick of things’,
especially for moms, distractions make it easy
for you to focus trying to help
everyone, except yourself.

I’ve been there.

I used to be ‘the glass half empty’, gloomy
kind of guy.

Rewind almost a decade ago, you’d see a
guy who was unrecognizable.

Believe it or not, I was 80lbs overweight steering death in the face.

Thoughts of negativity and self-destruction
were commonplace in my head.

Where my life would end up… soon took a turn for the worse.

Drugs, alcohol abuse, fair-weather friends…

You name it, sadly, it happened to me.

Until one day, ‘kick a dog enough, it’ll start to bite’.

I became sick and tired of being sick and extremely tired.

So I took personal responsibility.

I accepted the fact, no person, no entity or
force would ever ‘save me’ or change any circumstances in my life.

There’s a saying,
“Success has to start with you, your thoughts which occupy your mind
and what you believe to BE the perfect you”,
a wise man once said.

And soon as you switch from ‘thinking’ those negative
thoughts and problems you face….you find that your problems
become your stepping stone, and an unstoppable POWER to assist your ACTIONS.

You probably think I jumped
off a banana boat just now…

But I fought hard to remove the ‘head trash’,
as well as anything negative in my life, every single day.

And now surround myself with good, successful people I look up to.
Prioritize life first, and take better care of myself FIRST,
eating better and working out.

I lost 80lbs, found purpose through people, and passion through fitness.

So, what’s the point of this email?

Some folks who are going through hard times
right now (and you know who you are) can ‘try’ to
make it go away. You can run from it.

But when you ‘try’, you set yourself
up for an option to fail.

Like NASA says, ‘Failure is not an option’, if you know, in the end your problems,
failures and heartache are part of
your bigger picture or purpose in life.

And when you do, you’ll see the cup half full, world a glorious place and
your life transform as mine has through fitness.

Let the little stuff go, stick to your workouts!

Get your rest, exercise, nutrition and let the good times roll!
That’s a mouthfull, but you get my drift…

Committed to your success,

Jerremy

Couple days ago, I starred in the eyes of what ‘true determination’ looks like…

In 9 years, I’ve NEVER met anyone with more guts, passion and will-power to defy the odds, hush the critics and make a name for themself – better than Vala Marcowitz of Texas City, Texas.

If you remember, 2 months ago, she shared her inspiring story about how she was on track to topping 30lbs lost.

Fast forward, I recently sat down to hear just what has evolved into a ‘full-blown’ press release.

Vala, in 5 short months has lost 60lbs after battling a 30 year stretch of eating junk and feeling wasted. She knew if something wasn’t done soon, she’d be done.

But she’s turned it all around.

How’d she do it? DVD’s, latest machines? Supplements?
Sure, those things help you.

But before you go buying the next ‘big’ thing, be sure your guts, will-power and determination are jet-set and squared away.

Watch interview with Vala below

Now, let’s talk about 5 Top ‘Take Aways’ of how she lost 60lbs.

Her FOCUS is on her – the most important person is YOU.
Take away # 1 – Take care of yourself, first. If you’re outta whack, so is everyone else in your family.

Her friends she surrounds herself by aren’t un-supportive people.
Take away #2 – Surround yourself by a real ‘live person’ support system that holds you accountable to results

She keeps a journal by her bed everynight, recording the days eats.
Take Away #3 – That which can be measured (food), can be improved. Know what you’re putting in your mouth.

Know why you want to lose weight. Simply saying ‘because I want to feel healthier isn’t strong enough’. Be specific. She wanted to be healthier because her grandkids depend on her 10 years from now, to be there. Take Away #4 – Prioritize your life. Knowing your motivators creates action!

And lastly, she refused to ‘try’. Trying something tends to open up the option of ‘failure’. One of our core values is ‘Never Give Up’.
Take Away # 5 – Never use the word ‘try’. You will do, be and are someone with extraordinary talents who will become whatever you set your mind to.

So, you get the picture here?

Vala didn’t get a ‘fluffed up’ diet plan that helped her lose weight. Nor did she buy into late night TV info-products that don’t do a lick of good.

She’s on a winning streak that most people DREAM. But few ever actually make the leap, take the first step – and get it done.

It’s all in taking the first step.

And so if you see yourself like when Vala started, barely walking from the car to your front door – take a step and join us for our limited 21 Day Fat Loss Success Sprint. www.TexasCity21DayFatLoss.com. There’s only 8 spots left to reserve a spot before the September 30th deadline, and time I post this, they’ll probably be even fewer.

Join Vala, change your life, take action and take ‘away’ the frustrations you ever had ‘trying’ to lose weight.

Don’t try. Do.

Texas City Boot Camp Event

This is going to be a bit lengthy.

You might want to grab a seat before reading.

(pictures below)

A Big Thank You to everyone who made it out for the 2011 TCBC Client Awards Banquet.

Starting with ‘tasty’ chicken salad sandwiches, desserts, nice conversation and trophy presentation, you couldn’t recognize anyone there.

Everyone looked sharp, all dressed up in new, ‘non-workout’ attire!

A few pictures of the event below -

(Donna, above)

(Susie, above)

(Vanessa, above)

After handing out awards, later that evening, I shared something really personal.

Something I didn’t know I should share with you, in fear of what you would think, or how you would respond to it.

But I mustered up the courage, gave a quick 30-minute presentation to try and give you clarity into how you accomplish your goals (weightloss, fatloss, etc.), by first listening to my presentation of someone who didn’t think they had ‘anything’ to live for 9 years ago.

That someone was me.

In case you couldn’t make the banquet, I’ll try and sum up fewest words possible what was shared Friday night.

Unlike other fitness programs, Texas City Boot Camp is about more than you hitting a ‘goal’ weight.

Rather, TCBC was formed from overcoming personal adversity, bad relationships, heartache, low self-esteem and severe depression – early in my life.

And you know what I’m talking about if you’ve ever went through tough times. Sometimes you getting out of bed in the mornings can be difficult.

So, with every passing day, I knew if I didn’t do take care of me, truth is, I was willing to end my life.

And so scared out of my mind, I took action, 9 years ago, and made up my mind on a Sunday evening, ‘take care of yourself, your health’ first.

And soon found every time you work out, you remove hurt, stress, low self-esteem, unhappiness, resentment – replace it with happiness, ambition, smaller belt loops, clear bill of health and passion to live life better.

My presentation went on to how I attribute how much better I feel to reps, sets and muscle fatigue.

Then,  having seen my life dramatically change before my eyes, losing 50lbs myself, I got all my hands on anything Kinesiology (fitness studies) related and placed all my focus on helping others (YOU) re-claim their ‘claim’.

I ended the presentation with, ‘Thoughts become things’. I could probably improve on the ‘deliver’ of what I shared, but hope you get/got what I’m saying.

There’s nothing, no words to describe nor pictures to illustrate here just how important it was to myself, and Texas City Boot Camp team to celebrate your weight-loss, re-claimed energy, and fitness success at your Awards banquet. A magnificent evening!

(Half our group who made the photo shoot – above)

Thank you for everything!

Committed to your future success,

Jerremy

Give and you shall Receive? Why?

by admin

Normally, I don’t share real personal information on platforms.

But I feel its good you let it all out from time to time….so here goes.

Ok, so one day I woke from a sleepy slumber or it would’ve been the ‘it’ for me.

Before Texas City Bootcamp was founded. Before all that.

WOW! Almost 10 years ago this coming April. I hadn’t a clue what I wanted to do with my life 10 years ago. Relationships in distress. Family life broken up. Sad story, right?

You know when you wake up, problems you think you can’t handle, and so you suddenly stop to ask why?

A big decision had to be made in my mind first, to keep fighting, never stop, grow and learn from my mistakes or go down the ‘death spiral’ as Ryan Blair likes to say.

In case you don’t really know me, as a young troubled kid, I kept fighting fears, and the demons which plagued my life for a very long time.Through high school on up, I hid these problems very well.

I heard this verse ‘Give and you shall receive”, in church when I was a little kid. I didn’t know who or what it meant. Wasn’t very religious at home. But this verse soon would have a very profound impact on who I’d become 10 years later.

It wasn’t until I found passion (stopped weighing 280lbs, found fitness, stopped feeling sorry for the circumstances in my life), and started helping others (just so happened it was fitness) that I started receiving, and found PURPOSE in life.  Learning everything I could about health, muscle synchronization, love, people, etc.

BUT…until you really ‘feel’ the meaning of what ‘give and you shall receive’ really is, I’m not sure you really can comprehend the powerful impact it can have on your life, what it can do for you, like it has for my own.

I found purpose in life, when the ‘feeling’ was apparent, the meaning was found.

You never want to lose PURPOSE in your journey through life, right?

Most folks say our team (Texas City Bootcamp) is pretty passionate about your fitness, results, etc. Yes, true, but I kindly respond more importantly, “We’re passionate about people.”

Well, this little note I’m writing now, was when yesterday, 2 of our members in our fitness program revealed their feelings of how they feel with some little shout outs on our facebook wall Texas City Bootcamp.

And I was blown away.

Our team has amazing clients like Susie Packard, Karena Kane, Jen, Belinda, Melinda, Monica, Pam, Vanessa and so many deserving folks (you know who you are) who have given myself and our team the pleasure to get to know.

And so I guess it hit a nerve with me this morning when I read the posts on my wall. So I had to take a ‘time-out’ and tell, reflect a second on how I felt about you, and about Texas City Bootcamp.Made me ‘come back’ and re-visit why I’m called upon to do the deed, and ‘give’. And why I’m truly blessed to have the life I live, finding my purpose – helping others.

Let this be a ‘shout out’ to ALL of you.

Ok, I’ll stop before my computer falls asleep….

THANK YOU to YOU and all those over the years I’ve been afforded, for you.

Never give up, and never comp out.

Best,

Jerremy Guthrie

P.S. “For the first time in who knows how long… I wore a LARGE shirt comfortably to work! Let’s be clear.. There were NO X’s in front of the word large! Thanks Jerremy, Meghan, Lisa, and Anna for all your support!!! -Michael Myers”

“I have to stop and THANKYOU for pushing me, challenging me, encouraging me and believing in me! I am getting the RESULTS that I only thought plastic surgery would give me lol!!!!!! Most of all I am learning how to make a lifetime of healthy decisions! Can you tell I am juts a little excited about my “measurements” today?” – Jennifer Casper Crouch

Why Diets Don’t Work

by admin

I get it all the time…

You walk into a room, and the doctor says, ‘You need to lose (you fill in the blank) lbs.’

More often then not, you’re placed on a restrictive calorie diet.

Days go by, and ‘Viola!’

The diet MUST be working! You lose a couple pounds..the scale says so…(ha-ha)

But next thing you know, you’re frustrated because once you stopped ‘starving’ or dieting, your body makes up for your calorie deficit at the next meal and then some by storing all the ‘excess’ food you ate, storing mounds of fat on your ‘who-evers’.

This attributes to 90% of the reason why diets flat-out DO NOT WORK long-term. And why feeling of dis-satisfaction sets in every time.

Your metabolism becomes less efficient at burning calories when you ‘diet’ or starve yourself.

And, along with being 10lbs heavier, your self-esteem falters. So, you give up ‘trying’ the diet.

The key is balance, folks.

YOU MUST DO RESISTANCE TRAINING & EAT MORE TO LOSE WEIGHT, AND KEEP IT OFF.

Please Re-READ the last statement.

Most reasons why you lose weight boil down to having the right components in place.

Resistance training is a must if you want a great lookin’ and feeling body.

Here’s why..

Resistance training breaks down muscle. The re-building phase happens better or worse, with what exactly you put in your mouth.

And that’s when Nutrition comes in.

Proper amount of proteins, carbs and fats give you fuel.

You wouldn’t put 87 octane in a porshe…or it’ll run like a ford pinto.

You body is no different.

Now, let’s take it a step further…

A person who is working out, with a lean mass of 150lbs, (muscle + organs) should eat between 1500-2000 calories a day in order to feed the body fuel for the muscles, and maintain a steady BODY FAT drop.

A person who is NOT working out, with a lean mass of 150lbs, should eat lower calories then person above to successfully you lose weight.

I don’t know about you, but I’d much prefer eating MORE, I love to eat. And still keep on target to hit my fitness goal.

So, you see, if you do resistance training, eat right amount of calories, your body will GROW, in a good way. And not at your waist line.

Diets are ‘short-term’ fixes that don’t work.

Neither does having an ‘ab-cruncher 5000′ or some gimmick out there.

To get long-term see-in-the-mirror results, something you can wear 10 years from now, you’ve got to have a workable plan of action, components in place and a support system. Only then, will you most certainly attain your fitness goal.

Another ‘Show Stopper’

by admin

I’ve got one ‘heck of a doozy’ to share with you today.

This past week was body measurements.

For some, the thought of, ‘I’ve got to measure’ might seem more like getting your teeth pulled.’

Guess that depends on what you’re doing (walking, biking, exercise) to get healthier…

But ofourse,  IF you’re not journaling, conscious of what you eat, etc,…it’s an up-hill battle.

But for most our campers, you’re making your workouts, following exactly how the programs intended, and there’s no reason why in H-E-double hockey sticks you’d feel nothing but jubilation on measurement day.

And this past measurement day was EXCITING!

Reflect on things you’ve done is important. Measurement day is about that.

So you know what needs to improve, be tweaked or dropped all together…like the route 44 coke.

Measurement day must be implemented.

It’s critical (not to know what your numbers are… like other ‘wannabe’ places try and do’.

But to really pat yourself on the back.

Congratulate yourself for doing something for YOU (yourself).

Texas City bootcamp is about making TIME for YOURSELF.

Couple months ago, I met a nice guy named Micheal Myers who was referred by one of our bootcampers.

And I tell you what, first day he joined, the guy was a different person than he is today.

You’ll get my drift in video below.

Alot of his success (this measurement day) has everything to do with three components: Nutrition, Fitness, Support.

Rock-N-Roll!

I want to say a Special Thank You, for giving us a chance, and how empowering it feels to see someone else improve mentally, physically, (you fill in the blank here).Thank you Micheal.

Fitness = the Ultimate Life Changer

Jerremy

P.S. Couple spots left in 8:00AM TCBC! Head over to the Free Test Drive banner on this webpage and let us know you’re ready.

P.P.S. Micheal Myers is a teacher. Wait till his teacher buddies see him when school starts back. :-)

Grand Prize Winner Susan Packard

Saturday, I drove the studio to announce our WINNER of the Client Referral Rewards Contest.

And we’re very pleased to announce our First Client Referral Rewards $400 Grand Prize Winner Susan Packard for referring the most friends and family to our Texas City Bootcamp program.

Not only that, but if you’ve met Susan, you know she’s a truly extraordinary person whom I’ve had the pleasure to meet.

She’s real good about making all her workouts,  keeping a journal (she had to get another one) and just does everything by the book.

Truth is, I get onto her sometimes because she pushes herself a ‘little’ too much.

Thank you Susan, and to the others who participated, and came in 1st and 2nd Runner-Ups!

All in all, it was  great turnout. We’re happy to welcome the folks you love and care to help their health.

Switching gears, as you’re aware of the major changes coming to Texas City Bootcamp.

One being EVERYONE in TCBC (starting Monday July 11th), recieves a complete nutrition 7-day meal plan, grocery list packet as well as exactly the calories you need based on your lean mass to achieve your goals faster.

This will be emailed to you after your bootcamp class next week (unless you require us to print it for you).

Nutrition, as you know, MUST be mastered to get meet your goal.

The meal plan and nutrition program is now included in your Texas City bootcamp program ($89 Value).

Plus, the “BIGGIE’ is you’ll also get a chance to choose exactly the foods you need and want, and have it delivered to your door ‘on dry ice’ without the hassles of going to the grocery store. It’s 28 days worth of meals for less than 10 bucks a day.

Not bad, eh?

If you’re interested (not sure why you wouldn’t be), that also starts Monday, so mark your calendars TCBC’ er’s.

Ok, alot of stuff to be excited about.

It’s going to be a busy week so buckle up….

Get ready, set …> GO!

I want to share a quick story to inspire you today.

Not just some ‘old-hat’, pre-concieved hoo-rah about weight-loss.

But rather a story of how ANYONE, and I mean anyone,
can truly achieve whatever they put their minds to.

Does it take faith? I’d answer, Yes.

Does it take courage, support, guts and determination?

Sure it does.

But I’ve NEVER met someone who
had so much against her, like Vala Markowitz.

And yet she defies the laws of
‘myopic, I can’t (you fill in the blank) thinking’.

If you’ve given up ‘trying’, or think ‘you can’t’ lose weight,
or feel happier about yourself, then you’ll get a kick out of a video below.

I sit down with a lady
who’s living the life only she
knew existed.

After watching the video, take a few minutes to reflect on your life. Listen to your thoughts about weight-loss.

Are there any negative thoughts in the noggin’ that need to be flushed out?

Feel free to leave any comments below.

Our minds our built like a machine. Your thoughts, as Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, become ‘things’.

Vala could’ve thrown in the towel. She could’ve given up.

But instead she shifted her mindset to ‘Yes, I can’, like the movie with Eddie Murphy. (Can’t remember the title.)

If you do TCBC, then you probably see her on your way out.

She’s a living, breathing, fat-burning machine with a re-newed life spending this past Easter with her grandkids, for the first time in 30 years, hunting easter eggs.

And to that effect, there’s nothing worth more in this world than that.

Committed to your success,
Jerremy

P.S. Please listen carefully to what Vala
has against her, and how she RESPONDED by
taking ACTION.

There’s a HIDDEN message in the video.
Can you see what it is? (hint: I gave it away
in the sentence above.)

Tomorrow’s Good Ol’ Friday-

So I figured what better time then to share some pretty exciting (and inspiring) stuff you’ll get (if you’re a TCBC camper) in the coming months…

But before I do, I’d like to congratulate some impressive members who’ve ‘raised the bar’ and deserve recognition for their amazing measurements recorded this past week.

Sorry, this may be a long post, but let’s elaborate reasons WHY our clients almost always do so well.

(Note: I’m not intentional writing this to put ourselves up on a pedestal, as being the best solution to your fitness goal. Simply here to share with you reasons WHY I feel these clients do so well.)

First off, let’s look at a common problem most folks face when trying to lose weight.

If you’ve done dieting before, you probably were a do-it-aloner, and lost weight.

Restrictive calorie, ‘can’t eat what you want’, kind of diet.

Tough, and I see it all the time.

You start a diet, lose weight, then gain it all back.

Pretty frustrating stuff.

But it’s because your body is missing 1 ‘key’ ingredient required for long-term, sustainable weight-loss (fat-loss) results.

Besides nutrition – eat proper amount proteins, carbs and fats….

The KEY ingredient to achieve your fitness goals one and for all is actually the MOST neglected topic on late-night TV info-mericals.

The key ingredient of losing weight, and keeping it off, tells you how far you rise, and where you go, is determined by your -

SUPPORT SYSTEM.

With the right support system, you not only achieve your goals, but also helps you maintain them for the rest of your life.

Someone who ain’t just carrying a clipboard. But someone caring, coaching, helping you push through it.

Simply put, it’s the SUPPORT you go through over long-haul that will ultimately determine whether you get mediocre, short-term results.

Or, maintain see-in-the-mirror results that last a life-time. And take a a step further, how well your support system is, how they coach you, help you, really is what matters. An alphabet behind your name don’t ‘cut it’.

Passion does.

It’s pretty much like when you took your first exam in school. If you didn’t have a teacher/coach/mentor to support you, you wouldn’t go very far.

Fitness isn’t no different.

Working out is boring stuff, on your own.

So is the board game, Scrabble.

Support systems, in my opinion, our exactly what differentiates winners, from the rest of the herd. No matter the goal, a support system will always give positive results, weightloss, fatloss, you name it) over and over.

Too many clients to list we’ve been honored to provide their SUPPORT SYSTEM to, and who’ve done EXTREMELY well in Texas City Bootcamp….a few off top my head are…

- Susie (last name kept confidential reasons) lost 10+ inches and 10lbs in a month

-Jen chizzeled down 10mm of fat off her tricep, and inch of her waist

- Vanessa is now in a size 9 juniors

Ok, I’ll stop there. Our team stands on our head every time we get news like this. Love it…

Switching gears…

Finally, on with 3 BIG ROCKS coming to TCBC in few weeks…

*Race is HEATED – Referral Rewards Contest – $750 in prizes will be handed out Saturday, July 2nd to the 3 Top Camper Referrals at 10AM – studio location

* Starting July 5th – an additional bootcamp class at 8AM will be offered for moms, and teachers out for the summer

And….

*Starting July – All TCBC programs come with a complete nutrition meal plan (grocery lists, exact calories need for most fatloss) included with your TCBC program

There’s alot to be thankful for, excited for and straight-up GUNG-HO for this coming month. Especially if you’re a camper.

So, take a deep breathe,
enjoy your weekend and
look forward to the future.

Committed to your success,
Jerremy

Hope your weekend went well.

Most of the time you get emails/blog posts from our team on how to live a healthier life, how to drop inches, eat right and be vigilant when it comes to your fitness.

But today I feel like switching gears, and share more personal story with you. I took time to reflect on my life this Father’s Day weekend.

It’s good to REFLECT, if you haven’t lately.

I had a great father’s day with my son Jackson (almost 7months) and my daughter Lydia (3 years old).

We spent time hanging out by the pool. I almost got roasted like a lobster (too much sun!)

I had time to think about life. And when you have kids, you can’t help but think about how FAST time just passes you by…

And frankly, it’s SCARY. Country singer Kenny Chesney has a song called ‘Don’t Blink’, that’ll sum up what I’m saying here.

Because if you think about it, you probably remember the first steps your kids took (if you have any). And how that made you feel all goo-ey inside…time sure does fly.

I can recall when I first started this fitness company. And the day I moved my wife’s China Dishes out of our formal living room into the garage to make room for my dumbells, already 9 years ago! A dream of one day to be able to reach out to help as many people live life, happier.

Talk about a ‘daring’ move in a marriage. “Honey, I’m moving your antique dishes to the garage.”

People actually said I was CRAZY. And I probably was, if I didn’t have a burning desire to help people.

Christmas, birthdays, anniversary…I missed alot back then to be able to fulfill my dream of one day running a successful fitness business that was really there for folks. But unlike other service businesses who like holding a clipboard and counting reps, I want you to know we are actually there for you, all the time.

In hindsight, with $0 to my name, our family sacrificed a lot to turn my dream into reality.

And if you want something bad enough (like a fitness goal), you’ll do whatever it takes to achieve it. And it’s all worth it now.

Sure, I missed my daughter’s first two years of her life growing up, because clients came first, but it’s all worth it.

When you put your dreams on paper, and really want it to happen, you CAN achieve anything.

But one downside is you can’t control TIME. It will fly by you whether or not you’re ready for it.

My kids are growing up. Time never sits still as so does the tide.

Guess you have to always enjoy each day you have here on earth. Before you know it, you’ll be ‘over the hill’ and down the mountain of golden years.

If you haven’t, I encourage you to take 5 minutes to REFLECT on your life, Thank God (if you believe) and cherish those moments with your loved ones.

It’ll help you re-focus on what matters, to yourself, and your family.

Committed to your success,
Jerremy
